Abstract

The present study seeks to explore the effect of participation in an extracurricular enrichment program on the social-emotional development of young people identified as intellectually gifted. For this, a self-made questionnaire is applied to former students (N = 141) of the “Talentos UdeC” program, located in Concepción and aimed at students from more than 20 locations of the Biobío Region, Chile. Quantitative descriptive analyzes are performed. The results suggest both an effect on social-emotional learning and an important attribution of positive effects due to participation in the program. The positive effects and attributions are related to personal affective competence, social-moral competence, and personal resources for happiness.
